In this third newsletter of the UMCs' programme Data4lifesciences, we are highlighting one of the work packages, "Reuse of clinical data for research" coordinated by Prof André Dekker. Also in this newsletter: a report on the vibrant Data4lifesciences event in September providing an overview of the first results of the Data4lifesciences program and an item on where to find the updated work plans on our website. And to put in your agenda: the upcoming annual meeting of Health-RI, the Dutch umbrella infrastructure for personalized medicine and health research.
You are kindly invited to the third Health-RI conference on December 8th, 2017, on reinforcing the value of existing research data infrastructures by interconnecting these resources in one platform. This conference offers you an excellent opportunity to meet like-minded people from academia and industry, government, and health foundations to discuss your ideas and explore possible new collaborations.
Health-RI is the interconnected infrastructure for personalized medicine & health research in the Netherlands and aims to enable excellent personalized medicine and health research by facilitating the research process from start to end. To this end, Health-RI acts as a public utility with a portfolio of services including catalogues of data, images and samples, ethical and legal support services, a digital research environment and software tools, and a connected data backbone for FAIR data stewardship. By creating this environment, Dutch scientists can maximally use the power of the available resources to successfully develop integrated health and disease models, instrumental in the generation of next level personalized medicine and healthcare solutions. Health-RI builds on the first generations of connected resources that were created by BBMRI-NL, ELIXIR-NL & EATRIS-NL, and is welcoming existing and novel initiatives in the personalized health & medicine domain to join our mission.
Health-RI 2017 will discuss on this conference the latest developments and opportunities in biobanking, FAIR data management, ethical and legal aspects, IT solutions, and exciting science, all centered around the collective quest for more and impactful personalized medicine and health solutions. Additionally, Health-RI 2017 will give you an update on how the Netherlands is gearing up for a collective biomedical research infrastructure that maximally supports research projects, and boosts the value of existing and newly generated research and healthcare data.
